A plan to make the Governments of the world aware of the Ogaden situation
Updated 8th of October 2007

Plan: The Ogaden Journalists at www.ogaden.info propose that every Ogaden person, whether old or young to send a letter to their government.

Objective : All the governments around the world will be aware of what we want which is freedom and it will also highlight the brutal atrocities that are being committed by Ethiopia’s horrific regime.

Impact: Governments around the world will receive thousands of letters and they will be pressured to do something about Ethiopia’s long standing crimes which include human rights abuses such arbitrary arrests, random killings, genocide, and rape.

Instructions: Download the prepared letter and print it.

PDF: Ogaden Letter pdf
Word Document: Ogaden Letter doc

The letter is written in English, an international language, if you wish you can translate it or make it more personal.

Post the letter to your government. The governmental address can be found here for most of the main countries.

Once you have sent this letter please email us (freedom@ogaden.info) the following details:

When you sent the letter? What government you sent it to?

Example email: “ 12/08/07 Germany ”.

This will allow us to report back to you and tell you how many people have sent the letter.

Please Note: You do not have to write your details such as your name or address on the letter you are sending if you do not want to. This is completely anonymous.

The number of people that have already sent the letter to their government so far, ordered by country is:

Germany : 20 people

UK : 20 people

USA : 18 people

Total: 58 people around the world

(The above data is updated daily)

Ogaden’s Plight: The most crippling problems that faces the Ogaden
Friday 23 June 2007

The developed countries in this world are travelling to the moon and back, breaking new boundaries in science and surpassing economic growth that can only be dreamt of. Then why is the Ogaden, and for that matter Africa, still crawling in the mud?

Historically, Africa has been robbed of its people by slavery and robbed of its natural resources in the time of the so called “Scramble for Africa” which is known to us as the African Colonisation (19th century). So Africa was initiallay crippled. However, some countries fared better than others. Ethiopia was the only country not to be colonised by the Europeans as it was overcome by greed and helped the Europeans to take over Africa. The most unfortunate is the Ogaden region, which funnily enough was given to Ethiopia as a “thank you” present by Britain which was and is still illegal. Ethiopia still continues to ravage the Ogaden with its brutal and inhumane regime.

The Ogaden has been through so much and many of its problems are due to external parties, mainly the meagre help from the international community. The international community has turned their backs on the Ogaden region, mostly because to the Ogaden region would mean straying away from their path of the world economic race. Ethiopia’s illegal regime is covering up the Ogaden’s right for freedom. It is also well on its way to put it self in a favourable light to the international eye. I would very much like to meet Ethiopia's PR & marketing team as they are doing a very good job of twisting the truth in the Ogaden region!

Freedom for the Ogaden region is an arms length away and it is only a matter of time till the Ogaden region gets its deserved freedom! But the Ogaden region needs to accelerate this time since it has been freedom less for some time now and the rest of the world has advanced both economically and technologically. Once the Ogaden region gets its right to freedom, it has to catch up to the rest of the world and most of Africa is struggling to do this so it’s imperative that the Ogaden region wins freedom as quickly as possible.
